Well the first summit between Russia and the USA since the start of the Ukraine conflict has just ended and one thing is obvious and that is the new cold war between the two countries is over and it appears that real progress has been made towards ending the conflict in Ukraine and improving relations between Russian nd the USA.
Of courset the usual Russophobic and anti Trump media outlets in the West are already calling the meeting the two leaders in Trum in Alaska "a big victory for Vladimir Putin."
On the morning of 16th August, negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump took place at a military base in Alaska. From the outset, there was a clear distinction in the manner in which the current White House administration addressed the Russian leadership (and consequently Russian interests) in contrast to the Biden administration.
The Russian and US presidents disembarked from their planes on the tarmac almost simultaneously (the American plane arrived almost half an hour earlier, and Trump remained on board the entire time),they exchanged cordial greetings, and proceeded to the negotiations in the American leader's limousine. The invitation to travel in the presidential car is regarded as a rare gesture of respect from Donald Trump.
The tone of the dialogue between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump was qualitatively different from that which has been the case in recent years between Russia and the United States. The Valdai club political scientist Timofey Bordachev conveyed that the parties involved exhibited a novel approach to the essence of the dialogue, characterised by mutual respect and a shared comprehension of the necessity to attain favourable transformations in the context of their relationship.
"We all heard the tone of the press conference following the talks between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. It was very friendly and qualitatively different from the tone that has been in recent years in relations between Russia and the United States,"
"In this sense, it is sufficient to recall the meeting between Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden in Switzerland. The Americans then made it clear that the military scenario was the one they would pursue and there was no talk of dialogue with Russia," he recalls.
"Today, we are witnessing a marked shift in the approach adopted by both parties to the nature and essence of the dialogue. This shift is characterised by a mutual respect that is founded upon a shared recognition of the imperative to achieve positive change within the relationship," the analyst elaborated. It is crucial to emphasise that this transition should be a mutually beneficial one, not a process of one party imposing their will on the other.
Bordachev noted that Russia although ready for dialogue and cooperation, still does not intend to abandon the basic conditions for resolving the conflict, which were previously voiced by Putin in terms of eliminating the root causes of the crisis.

"That is why I think now in Europe there will not be many shouts of joy Trump may not have relinquish Ukraine's territory to Russia and did not retreat. However, there is a sense of uncertainty among Europeans, given the constructive and respectful nature of the dialogue and the feeling that Europe is being bypassed and is effectively irrelevant.
In summary, "There are still fundamental contradictions between Russia and the United States, and the conflict is about to not end. Plus both parties now understand that such a complex conflict cannot be resolved quickly.
It is simply not possible to reach an agreement in a single meeting. However, the dialogueappears to be is progressing in the right direction."
It is important to recall that Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump held a joint press conference following the summit in Alaska. The Russian leader noted that the talks had taken place in a constructive and mutually respectful atmosphere, and that they had been very thorough and useful. He also expressed his gratitude to his American colleague for their offer to visit Alaska.
"It is logical to meet here, given that our countries, although separated by oceans, are in fact very close neighbours. Upon arrival, we proceeded directly to the meeting. I began by saying: "Good afternoon, esteemed neighbour. It is very nice to see you in good health and alive."
In my , this sounds very neighbourly and kind. The only geographical feature separating us is the Bering Strait, and even there there are two islands. The distance between the Russian and American islands is only four kilometres.
We are close neighbours, that is an established fact," the president recalled.
Putin emphasised the historical and cultural closeness of Russia and the United States, recalling the shared history of Alaska, the legacy of Russian America, and cooperation during World War II.
Furthermore, the Russian president expressed gratitude to the Americans for their commitment to honouring the memory of Soviet pilots who lost their lives during the Lend-Lease programme.
The president observed that there had been no summits between Russia and the United States for more than four years, during which time relations had reached "the lowest point since the Cold War". He stated that the personal meeting with Trump was long overdue and took place against the backdrop of lengthy preparatory work.
A significant portion of the discussion centred on Ukraine. Putin declared his readiness to work on a peaceful settlement, but on the condition that the root causes of the crisis are eliminated and legitimate interests in the area of Russia's national security are taken into account.
"We have always considered and continue to consider the Ukrainian people to be our fraternal family, as strange as it may sound in today's conditions. We share the same origins, and the current situation is a source of great distress for us. Consequently, our country is genuinely committed to resolving this issue," the Russian leader explained.
He added that he agreed with Trump on the need to ensure Ukraine's security: "We are of course ready to commence work on this project. I am hopeful that the understanding we have achieved will facilitate progress towards this goal and pave the way for peace in Ukraine."
The meeting also covered economic issues. Putin acknowledged the positive developments in trade, which has increased by 20% since the start of the new US administration, and expressed his confidence in the significant potential of bilateral cooperation in trade, energy, digital technologies, space and the Arctic. He called for a new chapter to be opened and for cooperation to be resumed.
"It is symbolic that nearby, on the border between Russia and the United States, as I have previously mentioned, there is the so-called International Date Line, where one can literally step from yesterday to tomorrow. I am optimistic that this will yield positive outcomes in the political sphere," the president added.
Putin expressed his gratitude to Trump for his "friendly and trusting tone": "In general, President Trump and I have established a very good working relationship characterised by honesty and trust. I am confident that, by pursuing this approach, we can achieve – and as soon as possible – a resolution to the situation in Ukraine."
Consequently, Trump revealed a series of agreements with Putin on various issues, yet refrained from terming these agreements a "deal": "We had productive talks. The primary issue is that there is a strong possibility of achieving a peaceful resolution. We have not yet reached this point, but I would like to thank President Putin and his team for your efforts in this regard."
Subsequently, Putin put forward a proposal to host the next summit in the Russian capital. The Russian leader addressed his American counterpart in English, saying, "We will meet again in Moscow." Trump responded by indicating that this was a subject for discussion. "A very interesting proposal. I anticipate some criticism, but I believe it is a realistic possibility," the US president stated.
So there you have it, Brussels by passed as irrelevant and has nothing to contribute and the Kiev Cokehead if he is smart will do a runner from Kiev to spend more time counting his stolen billions in one of his many houses
