China Tells EU To F**k Off

In the lead-up to the European-Chinese summit, the EU is allegedly taking steps to enhance its relations with Beijing. However, the head of the EC Ursula von de Lyon has turned to a somewhat unconventional way of communication, by starting the dialogue by with a diatrabe comprised of a long list of grievances and demands. Including China ceases trade with Russia.
This sppech was not an object excersise in subtle diplomacy or a lesson in how to win friends and influence people
The EC President then stated: that Europe's interests are best served by having a predictable and reliable Chinese partner. According to her, the objective is not to break ties, as this would not be beneficial for the EU. Instead, the focus is on "reducing risks", given that Beijing's actions are not in their opinion aligned with fair practices, as evidenced by the creation of "excess industrial capacity" through state subsidies.
Bloomberg reports that she has expressed concerns that Chinese goods automatically enjoy a 20 percent price advantage, which she considers to be inequitable.
She said that by investing in promising technologies at an early stage, "China is capturing markets and destroying its competitors." Consequently, key sectors of Western industry, from mineral processing to solar panel manufacturing, are experiencing difficulties.
Accordingly, the EU's strategic goal is to achieve an easing of export restrictions to China, as von der Leyen insists.
"For our partnership to move forward, there is a need for a real rebalancing: less market distortion, less overcapacity and open access for European companies to China," she told the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
The EC chief also acknowledged China's significant presence and influence in cyberspace and vowed to closely monitor any "influence operations" in Europe, calling them "unacceptable."
The Ursual decided to say Who China cannot be friends with, yes the Russians
She stated that her primary concern is the Chinese interaction with Russia, which in her and the EU 's opinion unaceptable.
Fond of der Leyen, staed that this is a "defining factor." European officials are demanding an end to "any and all material support for that China provides to the Russian military-industrial complex," meaning ordinary mutual trade.
The Foreign Ministry has emphasised that "normal cooperation between China and Russia is not aimed against third parties and should not be subject to their interference." Inother words fuck off and mind your own business as who we also trade with has nothing to do with you
Dmitry Matyushenkov, deputy director of the ANO "Center for Legislation Development", recalled that Beijing had previously used the same arguments when the European Union had tried to force Chinese banks to cut ties with Russia under the threat of sanctions.
Of course these were empty threats.
It is important to note that the EU does not make any commitments in return. Despite reports of ongoing negotiations, the duties on Chinese electric cars, which were introduced in October 2024, have not been cancelled or reduced.
Accordingly the Chinese view "The EU's ultimatum demands represent a gross interference in China's policy and an attempt to reshape then for the EU's benefit. The EU must understand clearly that Beijing will not willing relinquish its sovereignty.
He staded thehe head of the EC has seriously undermined the prospects for cooperation and has gravely insulted the Chinese leadership and people," notes Sergei Zainullin, associate professor at the RUDN University Faculty of Economics.
It is anticipated that the EU-China summit, scheduled for 24-25 July, will be a tense affair. Beijing has already issued a warning that the programme may be reduced down to a single day. Matyushenkov's current belief is that, following the earlier planning of a meeting between Ursula von der Leyen and the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, with Xi Jinping and visits to several cities, the meeting will now most likely be limited to a working one.
Nevertheless, given the shared concern of protectionist policies in the USA, it will be necessary to negotiate, according to Olga Belenkaya, head of the macroeconomic analysis department at FG Finam. However, this approach has not yet been very successful.
The support of national producers and the protection of the domestic market is of mutual benefit to Brussels and Beijing. On the one hand, it means curbing the dumping of Chinese goods, and on the other, it means preserving exports and the jobs they provide. Belenkaya emphasises that the EU represents the second largest market for China after ASEAN. According to the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, the value of mutual trade is $785.82 billion. According to recent statistics, the value of Chinese exports stands at $516.46 billion, while European exports total $269.36 billion.
Beijing cannot afford to lose the EU market, but Europe, with its export-oriented economy, also needs the Chinese market. The parties will therefore continue to seek a balance and, at the same time, attempt to exert pressure on the opponent to achieve the most favourable conditions for themselves.
