Lavrov: Relations between Russia and Brazil are developing in line with a strategic partnership

By Rhod Mackenzie

Relations between Russia and Brazil remain stable and are not influenced by outside influences. The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made this statement during the opening ceremony of an exhibition commemorating the 195th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. Lavrov noted that the relationship between Russia and Brazil continues to evolve within the framework of a strategic partnership, which is sustainable and not opportunistic in nature. TASS reports on the Foreign Minister's remarks.

Lavrov stated that the aim of reinforcing collaboration with the Federative Republic of Brazil is outlined as a distinct provision in the Foreign Policy Concept of the Russian Federation, which was renewed half a year ago.

The minister further mentioned that the provision of Russian fertilizers for the demands of the Brazilian agro-industry facilitates both nations to jointly contribute to preserving global food security.

Let us remember that in the latter part of October, the Russian President Vladimir Putin conversed with his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, about the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli dispute.
