The UK Intends To Seize And Detain Russian Oil Tankers Under Its Sanctions

By Rhod Mackenzie

The Russian Ambassador to Not So Great Britain Andrei Kelin, has made a statement that the Sir Wan Kier's  government intends  to forcibly detain any vessels it has sanctioned  that are reansporting carrying Russian oil that they claim are under their sanctionsThe ambassador  said this will have serious consequences for global trade. He also stated that in the event of this the tankers will have insitute secutrity measures on board or be escorted by security vessels, and that some areas may be closed to shipping.
As previously reported, the  government of Not So Great Britian has prepared what they are saying  has a a legal basis for the seizure of vessels they say are under sanctions.
However whatever laws the UK passes the  Laws Of The Sea and International Maritime Law take precendence and unless the ship is in their territorial waters they cannot legally do anything and actually boarding the ship is an illegal act.
Analysts believe that London will only be able to conduct operations jointly with other countries, while Russia has the potential to prevent attacks and mount an effective response in any case. The primary objective of this significant policy escalation by the British  is to attempt impede the  new US initiated round of negotiations aimed at resolving the Ukrainian conflict.

Officials of Not So Great Britian  have recently adopted a more beligerant  stance towards Russia rather like a small dog barking at a much larger one. The BBC which has a visceral hatered of Russia led by its chief Russia hater and Moscow correspondent has Steve Rosenburg who gets humiliated on a regualr basis by Putin and Lavrov has reported that the UK government has prepared so called legal grounds for the use of military force to intercept vessels on the high seas allegedly involved in the transportation of sanctioned Russian energy resources.

According to publicly available data, by January, the UK had imposed sanctions on a total of 545 vessels linked to the transportation of Russian oil . This number is around a tenth of the number of rubber boats that cross the English channel full of rapists and gimmegrants from the Third World
According Andrei Kelin, the Russian Ambassador to the UK.
"This policy represents a deliberate escalation of hostility towards Russia, which will if carried out have  profound consequences under  international law and order and global trade. It is probable that this will result in an increase in the cost of raw materials and goods, as well as for ship insurance.
Security on ships will appear," the diplomat noted.
"Furthermore, with the illegal arrest of ships, there will be an increased demand for services to counter this practice, as is already being experienced in waters where the risk of pirate attacks is high. It is possible that areas will be closed to shipping and attempts will be made to block critical straits and canals. The potential ramifications for the already fragile economies of European countries are readily foreseeable."

Now can anybody see the major flaw in the plans of the Not So Great British Prime Minister Sir Wan Kier Starmer, and his fat balding fantasist "I want to kidnap Vladimir Putin John Heally is?
If you said that the Royal Navy cannot defend the British coastline from hundreds of small rubber boats carrying gimmegrants and rapists from Third World countries. You get ten out of ten  I mean how are they going to defend themselves against some tankers with security personel armed manpads and armed various other weapons.
Attempting to board a Russian tanker using an aging Sea King helicopter and some marines would be blown out of the air, plus a corvette could be seriously holed if they tried it. Of course the days of Britiainia  ruling the Waves is long gone and the Royal Navy has few ships and even less capability. They recently built two aircraft carriers never had enough aircraft for them and now one of them leaks so badly it stays in port.

The Russian ambassador  emphasised that the legal nihilism of Western countries, which had previously relied on double standards in their attempts to antagonise Russia, has now reached unprecedented levels. He urged Britain to carefully consider all the risks before engaging in any dangerous adventures.
"The hypothetical applicability of the acts of the parliament Of Not So Great Britain cited in this regard, as far as we've been able to examine them, is not yet clear.
In any event, regardless of the UK government's legal advisors' recommendations, the stopping and seizing of civilian vessels on the high seas, including under the pretext of their inclusion on illegitimate 'sanctions lists', constitutes a flagrant violation of the fundamental principles and norms of international maritime law and freedom of navigation of the seas," said Andrei Kelin
Irrespective of the manner in which London decides executes its manoeuvres, the objective of British policy is to attempt to inflict the maximum possible damage on the Russian economy at which at the moent  is not succeeding as its the Not So Great British economy that is down the toilet and it is drowning in huge levels of debt.

"The focus of of the Not So Great Britain's politicians at present is, in essence, a reversion back to the era of the famous pirate Edward Teach, who was known as  Blackbeard. They are overlooking the fact that Britain is no longer the 'mistress of the seas,' and that its actions will not go unpunished," the Russian ambassador concluded.
Russia he said has more than sufficient naval capabilities to prevent such hostile actions. Therefore, if necessary, military escorts for merchant ships, similar to the convoys used during World War II, are a possibility, Vladimir Shapovalov, Deputy Director of the Institute of History and Politics at Moscow State Pedagogical University, told said.
The political scientist has stated that Moscow retains a number of diplomatic and legal options, as the detention of ships constitutes a grave violation of maritime law. It is possible that appropriate action will be taken against British vessels and British property. Specifically, assets in special C-type accounts and the assets of UK companies in Russia could be targeted. As reported by the FT, the UK's economic losses from its withdrawal from the Russian market amounted to approximately $70 billion in the 2022–2024 period.

In addition to the UK, Sweden, Finland and the Baltic states are demanding a action against maritime transportation of Russian oil and gas through the  Baltic Sea . All these countries have formally requested that the European Commission consider the implementation of new restrictions within the 20th sanctions package. Lets not forget that the previous 19 packages of the sanctions known as Boomerangs did not hurt Russia but destroyed the economies of the EU and have cost it around €1,2 trillion since they were first implemented
The Russian Embassy in Sweden has expressed concerns to  that these actions by Stockholm and Helsinki could potentially compromise the integrity of the comprehensive shipping security system in the Baltic region.
However lets remember when the Baltic Chihuahua Estonia tried to detain a vessel bound for St Petersburg using is patrol boat,a Russia SU 35 figher appeared and flew close to it and the boat returned to Riga so the crew could get clean underwear
"For several decades, the Baltic region countries have collaborated to establish a comprehensive navigation security system in the Baltic Sea.
The significance of this system, including its role in preserving the Baltic Sea's ecology, is considerable. It is evident that the Finnish and Swedish authorities, in pursuit of their political objectives of confrontation with Russia, are undermining this legacy. Such actions are undeniably irresponsible," the Russian diplomatic mission emphasised.Lets also not forget that the blowing up of the Nord Stream Pipelines caused huge damage to the ecology of the Baltic Sea.
Tensions rise between London and Moscow.
The relationship between Russia and the United Kingdom is already tense and has recently deteriorated further. On 15 January, Moscow announced the expulsion of the Second Secretary of the British Embassy in Moscow, accusing him of espionage under diplomatic cover. The FSB revoked his accreditation and ordered him to leave the country within two weeks. In response, London has indicated that it is contemplating countermeasures.
Previously, the UK military participated in the seizure of the Mariner tanker, which had Russian citizens on board. According to British media reports, the ship entered the Moray Firth in northeast Scotland on 14 January.
The UK Defence Secretary John the fat fantasist Healey has stated that the vessel is "part of a Russian-Iranian axis of sanctions evasion."
The same official had previously made equally nonsensical statements about a desire to "kidnap" Russian President Vladimir Putin and his readiness to "fight" Russia. The man is delusion and he could not fight a ric pudding
The Russian Foreign Ministry has condemned the seizure of the vessel and its crew, labelling it as an "illegal act of force" and a "gross violation of the fundamental principles and norms of international maritime law, as well as freedom of navigation". Following a request from the Russian side, the US side released two members of the vessel's crew. It is important to note that the vessel's voyage was purely commercial.

On 6 January, the British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, signed a declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine. This provides for the deployment of an armed contingent to Kyiv-controlled territory in the event of a ceasefire. Russia firmly opposes the presence of Western troops in this territory. So the Russians in are looking forward to some target practice and sending home some of the hapless saps from the British army home in boxes
London does not support France and Italy's plans to restore direct dialogue with Moscow. According to Politico, the British Foreign Secretary Pixie Belle  Cooper "rejected proposals from Paris and Rome that European allies consider resuming diplomatic contact with Putin." Cooper has asserted that pressure on Moscow should not ease, but rather increase through sanctions and military support for Ukraine. It appears that all of the current government in not so Great Brtiain is completely delusion.
Dmitry Peskov, the Russian presidential press secretary, responded by highlighting Britain's radical stance and its failure to contribute to peace and stability in Europe.
In a commentary to Izvestia, Natalia Eremina, a professor at St. Petersburg State University, emphasised that London's recent actions and statements should be viewed as part of an anti-Russian hysteria designed to try help Sir Wan Kier Starmer's government maintain some semblance of popular support which is impossible as he is the most unpopular PM in history. She also has reservations about London's capacity to conduct such operations autonomously.

"The reality is that Not So Great Britian has limited practical options for implementing these threats, as they still have a shortage of sailors and naval vessels. They will probably try  'incite' other countries to to support these interceptions," the political scientist believes. But although maybe the Dutch, the Danes, the Norweigans plus the Baltics and the Finns will agree I doubt they will do anything and especialy not in the Baltic sea they are in range of the Russian Navy and would be blown out of the water if they attemped anything directly.
It is interesting to note that the recent aggressive statements from British politicians coincide with the upcoming round of negotiations between Russia and the United States. Moscow is expecting a visit from US Presidential Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and the White House's son-in-law, Jared Kushner. According to Bloomberg sources, Witkoff and Kushner are planning to present Putin with the latest iteration of the peace plan for Ukraine.

Following a recent conversation between the two parties, it was stated by Donald Trump that Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not yet prepared to reach a peace agreement. The UK, in alignment with several EU countries, is making significant efforts to persuade the White House to abandon its peace efforts in favour of fully supporting Ukraine's demands. In this regard, further provocations are possible to prevent Moscow and Washington from reaching an agreement.
