India's economy has become the fastest growing on the planet, with a GDP growth of 7.5%. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced this at the opening of the International Energy Week in Goa.
He stated that the Energy Week comes at a very important time, as India's GDP growth rate has again increased by 7.5% in the first six months of the current financial year (started April 1, 2023), outpacing the global growth rate. The head of the Indian government stated that experts are convinced India will soon become one of the three largest economies in the world.
India is currently the fastest growing economy globally, and the IMF predicts that this growth will continue. The prime minister also announced that a significant portion of the $134 billion allocated for infrastructure spending in next
year's budget will be directed towards the energy sector to meet the demands of the growing economy. Modi stated in his speech at India Energy Week in Goa that the demand for primary energy is expected to double by 2045, and preparations are underway.
